JAZZ AIMS TO TURN UP THE TEMPO

Black Mountain sponsored player Jazz Janewattananond got off to a flyer when he birdied holes 12 and 16 to reach the turn in 33 in the first round of the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters on Thursday. His title charge then slowed down after he traded two bogeys against another birdie on his homeward-run to settle for an opening one-under-par 70.

Here’s what Jazz has to say following the completion of his round.

“I started off really well today but I was unlucky in the holes coming home and things didn’t turn out the way I wanted.

I missed several short putts on the last few holes and that cost me a lot. I guess I just have to accept it and move on.

The course set-up is pretty tough so I’m pleased with how I’ve played. Anything under-par on this golf course is a good score.

The chip-in on the 16^th hole was clearly the highlight of my day.

I hit a bad second shot but I still managed to hole my chip for a birdie.

The green was very sloppy and the pin was way back. So it was really unexpected when the ball went in.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow as I’m sure there’ll be better days ahead.”
