Prom stays in sights of leaders

Prom Meesawat of Thailand fired a four-under-par 68 to stay within sight of the leaders after the first round of the King’s Cup in Khon Kaen, Thailand on Thursday.

The Black Mountain sponsored player marked his card with four birdies to sit in tied ninth position, three shots back from leading Indian duo S.S.P. Chowrasia and Anirban Lahiri at the US$500,000 Asian Tour event.

Currently ranked third on the Order of Merit, Prom needs a solid result or a victory this week to narrow the gap on currently Merit leader David Lipsky of the United States, who is absent from the event.

“I think I still have a chance (to win the Order of Merit). I hope to have some good weekends ahead. I just have to be careful with playing too much though. I don’t want to over push myself. I just want to let it happen and just enjoy my golf and see what happens,” said Prom.
