Edberg enjoys final round flourish at Omega European Masters

Pelle Edberg of Sweden saved the best for last when he fired a seven-under-par 63 in the final round of the Omega European Masters to enjoy a fourth place finish on Sunday.

The Black Mountain player fired six birdies, one eagle against one bogey to soar up the leaderboard on a 14-under-par 266 total at the Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club.

Edberg, who finished three shots back of the champion Danny Willet, was clearly delighted with his efforts in the event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.

“I finished fourth and so that is really nice. I played really well yesterday but only shot four-under. I was a little disappointed although it was one of the best rounds of the day. I felt good to knock a few putts in the round today.”

“This is by far the largest cheque I have in a while and this will move me up a few spots. I’ve a few options of what I plan to do for next week and I’ll head back to decide,” said Edberg.

Rikard Karlberg of Sweden also enjoyed a top-10 result after finishing in ninth place following a 65 for a 271 total.

Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond settled for tied 37^th alongside Englishman Lee Westwood while Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand finished a further three shots back in tied 50^th position.
