“I didn’t think I would get in when I was playing in France the week before. But I knew that Alex Noren was going to pull out and not much of those reserves for top-10 spots were going to be used.

But I got the spot somehow and booked a last-minute ticket to Edinburgh and here I am.

When I finished my round and walked away from the course at Gullane, I actually didn’t think my score would be enough as I was 12 spots down.

I had already booked a flight home as it can be quite tough to get home to Sweden from Scotland.

I just thought to myself, let’s just see how this works out and when I got to the airport, all of a sudden, I was in seventh place.

I had to board the plane and it felt like two days while waiting for the final results on board.

When I landed in Copenhagen, I waited for a friend for a while before we rented a car at 11.30pm and did a three-hour drive to Gothenburg.

I slept for about four hours, put on some clothes, had some breakfast with my wife, kissed her goodbye and was back on the plane to Edinburgh!

I’m super excited and ready to play my first Open at St Andrews.

I’ve more big news coming up as my wife and I are expecting twins in December and so there’s lots of things happening to my life.

It has been a hectic year and I’m just happy the golf game is all coming together and I’m beginning to play some good golf.

Everything’s positive and it’s great!”
