March 11: Black Mountain sponsored star Pelle Edberg of Sweden continued his amazing run with a sparkling five-under-par 67 to take the second round clubhouse lead at the True Thailand Classic presented by Chang  on Friday.

Edberg, who started the day in second place, made his move quickly when he ran out in 33.

He mixed two bogeys and a birdie in his next five holes after the turn but would storm home with three birdies in his closing four holes for a two-day total of 12-under-par 132 at the Black Mountain Golf Club.

“I’m more satisfied with the result today than yesterday. I was playing extremely good yesterday but today I played well but not as good. it was a strong finish. Three putted the last unfortunately for a par. Overall it was a good day,” said Edberg..

“I think we have to talk about this on Sunday. But yeah, of course, it feels nice to see your name up there. It gets easier as well but on the other hand, I hope I’m not as nervous tomorrow as I was on Thursday,” said the Swede.

Scotland’s Simon Yates also ensured a strong Black Mountain presence on the leaderboard when he returned with a 68 to trail Edberg by three shots.

Yates, who lives in Hua Hin, drew on his wealth of local knowledge which he admitted has given him the edge.

The 45 year old made five birdies and a bogey in his second round and revealed following his 68 that he had borrowed a putter off course owner Stig Notlöv.

“I have a new driver which has been great and that has made a big difference this week. The other club that is working well is the putter that the owner of Black Mountain gave me last week to try and has been great as well,” said Yates.
