Henson enjoys mixed fortunes

It was a mixed round for Berry Henson of the United States in the opening round of the Asia-Pacific Open Golf Championship Diamond Cup on Thursday.

The Black Mountain sponsored player turned in 37 which included two birdies, one triple bogey and one bogey. He showed true spirit when he posted a pair of birdies from the 14th hole before dropping another shot on 16.

He then bounced back brilliantly when he eagled the last hole to return with a one-under-par 70 to sit in tied 16th place at the 150 million Yen (approximately US$1.5 million) event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour (JGTO).

Henson, a one-time Asian Tour winner, is currently four shots off the leader Cameron Smith of Australia and he will need a brave three-day effort to mount a solid title challenge.
