Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg had an encouraging start to his South African Open Championship when he opened his accounts with a two-under-par 70 on Thursday.

The Black Mountain sponsored player marked his card with three birdies, an eagle and three bogeys to share 15th place, four shots back of South Africa’s Jbe Kruger and England’s Andy Sullivan who share the lead on matching 66s.

Pelle Edberg, meanwhile carded a 72 for tied-41st place while Johan Edfors is tied for 79th after returning with a 74.
