Prom’s blog: Patience is key

Thailand’s Prom Meesawat opened his campaign at the Maybank Malaysian Open with a promising four-under-par 68. That left him trailing the co-leaders Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell by two shots in tied-sixth place.

Here’s what our Black Mountain sponsored player had to say following his round.

“The course is playing very difficult. It is tough to control the ball on the greens and it was very windy. It is a good opening round. I always try to find the fairways as much as I can here. You must be patient here.

I’ve played here many times and I know which holes are difficult. I know where I need to play for par and where I should attack. This is a tough course.

This is my second tournament for 2015 but my first for the Asian Tour. It is a very good opening round so I will play my best this week.

I had two tap in birdies but the last hole was the best putt for today! I didn’t think I would hole that putt because it was downhill. I had the correct speed on my putt and it made a big turn and went in! It was a good finish.”
