Black Mountain’s Thongchai Jaidee was denied a place in a four-man play-off by one shot after he closed with a seven-under-par 65 to take a share of fifth place at the BMW International Open on Sunday. Victory would have been Thongchai’s second win on European soil in a month since his victory at the Nordea Masters.

Cejka falls back in Germany

Home hero Alex Cejka slipped back on the leaderboard despite shooting a solid third round three-under-par 69 at the BMW International Open in Germany on Saturday. The Black Mountain sponsored player was enjoying a good run in the event where he turned in 34 and added five birdies against one bogey in his homeward nine. However, he struggled to keep pace as he double bogeyed the last for a 13-under-par 203 total.

Black Mountain’s Thongchai Jaidee will be one of the names to look out for when he tees off at the BMW International Open this week.

The Thai has been enjoying a good run of form, having won his second title in Europe at the Nordea Masters earlier this month and is currently ranked 41st on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Alex Cejka of Germany produced another solid performance at the Air Capital Classic presented by Aetna on the Web.Com Tour after finishing tied 28th on Sunday.

The Black Mountain player closed with an even-par 70 for a six-under-par 274 total in the event that was won by Sebastian Cappelen.

Players from five countries are leading 13 separate divisions after two days play in the Centara World Masters Golf Championship being played at four courses in Hua Hin Thailand.

The amateur tournament, the largest of its kind ever held in Asia, has attracted more than 450 participants from 23 countries.

Opening days of the Centara World Masters

The opening days of the Centara World Masters was played in mild, overcast conditions at Black Mountain, Banyan and Imperial Lake View golf clubs in the Hua Hin area of Thailand.

The field of more than 450 players started the tournament enthusiastically and played some excellent golf in conditions that many participants may not have previously experienced.

Cejka soaks in the positives after U.S. Open stint

Alex Cejka of Germany will put his U.S. Open experience to good use after finishing tied 60th in the year’s second Major championship on Sunday. It was Cejka’s seventh appearance in the U.S. Open and he enjoyed a strong opening two rounds of 73 and 71 but stumbled during the weekend when he returned with a 77 and 76 for a 17-over-par 297 total at Pinehurst.
