Black Mountain players aim to sail ahead at SAIL-SBI Open

This week, Black Mountain sponsored players, Berry Henson, Jazz Janewattananond and Rikard Karlberg head to India for the SAIL-SBI Open which will tee off from February 26 to March 1.

The trio is among the elite field who are all gunning for top honours at the US$300,000 Asian Tour event. They will also be eager to get their 2014 season on the Asian Tour off to a good start.

It will be a return to happy hunting ground for Karlberg as he has won twice in India in 2010 and will be looking to end a four-year title drought on the Asian Tour. Although he described his season last year as a ‘steady’ one, the Swede felt he could have improved on the mental aspect of his game.

With the brand new season starting, Karlberg believes he can get back to his best and be a force to be reckoned with this year.

“It was a steady season (2013). I wanted to win but my mental game wasn’t where I wanted it to be when I was in contention heading into the final round. I’m pretty disappointed with that but I’ll keep working on it. My game has grown and I’ve certainly become a better player,” said Karlberg.

Henson is also looking to add another feather to his cap since his last victory in the Philippines in 2011. The American finished in 19th place on the 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit and is hopeful of getting his season off to a flying start.

Jazz, who was one of the star attractions on the Asian Tour last season, having produced impressive back-to-back top 10s in Philippines and Indonesia is another name to look out for on the leaderboard.

The 18-year-old has been tipped by many including Thai legend and Black Mountain sponsored player, Thongchai Jaidee to shine and claim a maiden breakthrough on the Asian Tour this year.

We wish them the best of luck!
