Jazz and Karlberg on a mission in Singapore

Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand and Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg share a common goal this week – win the US$1.5 million The Championship. The Black Mountain sponsored duo endured mixed fortunes in Indonesia last week as Hua Hin native Jazz enjoyed a tied fifth result while Karlberg uncharacteristically missed the halfway cut.

The dashing Swede was replaced at the summit of the Asian Tour Order of Merit by Anirban Lahiri but he has a chance to reclaim the top spot if he wins and other results go his way.

Jazz will also be keeping his eye on the Order of Merit rankings where he is placed 18th. Another solid result this week will likely seal his Asian Tour card for next season.

Playing in his fourth straight event, the 18-year-old is mentally charged and ready to challenge for his maiden win.

“I’ve never played four events in a row before but I’m really excited that I’m coming into the week in the best of form. Physically, I’m tired but mentally I’m not. I’m in the competitive mode now and all I need to do is to pace myself and not get too carried away especially if I’m doing well,” said Jazz.
