All you need is one good week

Asian Tour legend Thongchai Jaidee steps into his fourth U.S. Open appearance this week eager to stamp his mark on the Major stage. Thongchai made his Major debut at the U.S. Open in 2001, the same year he became Asia’s number one for the first time.

Here, he talks about his preparations for the year’s second Major tournament and how his victory at the Nordea Masters has prepared him for the challenging week ahead at Pinehurst.

“It was good to win at the Nordea Masters. It was a special week. I will try my best for another good week at the U.S. Open.

All you need is one good week to win. You never know in golf who will win. When we tee up now, we feel we have a chance like everyone else to win any tournament

To win this week, every part of your game has to be perfect. The key is short game, because the greens are so tough here.

There are a lot of slopes on the course and if you find a good place to put your ball, it is going to be quite nice to play from there but miss the wrong side and it is going to be hard to make up-and-down.

I know U.S. Open is very tough. I think par every day will win.”
