Thongchai survives The Masters cut

Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee broke par for the first time at Augusta National Golf Club with a solid two-under-par 70 to make the cut at The Masters Tournament on Friday. The Black Mountain sponsored player recovered from an opening 75 to finish the day in tied 33rd place on one-over-par 145.

The three-time Asian number one went out with guns blazing when he eagled the third hole before making the turn in 32.

He wobbled when he triple bogeyed the 11th hole but staggered home with a battling performance when he traded three birdies against two bogeys in the year’s first Major tournament.

He trails the runaway leader Jordan Spieth by 15 shots.
