Thongchai makes big jump on world rankings

Black Mountain sponsored star player Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand made a massive move up the world rankings to 35th place after finishing tied at the BMW PGA Championship on Sunday.

The Thai was in contention for his third win on European soil in England and was well placed for another grandstand finish when he turned in 32 on the final day.

But with Korea’s An Byeong-hun racing away six clear with three birdies and an eagle in the homeward-nine and Thongchai trading one bogey against a birdie to close with a three-under-par 69, it only meant that the Korean could never be caught on a day when he was at his best.

Despite finishing second best, Thongchai has no complains about his week.

Here’s what he has to say.

“It was a solid round today. I struck the ball well but missed several short putts on the back-nine. I’ve no complaints about my golf game this week. I played really solid in my front-nine but only had a bad hole on 13. I missed another short putt on 14. But it’s still good to be second

It’s nice to see an Asian boy win the tournament. This is a big tournament in Europe. I’ve seen An play and he is a very good player. He’s young and the future’s definitely very bright for him.”
