Jazz continues superb run at home

Black Mountain sponsored star player Jazz Janewattananond posted another solid result on home soil with a tied-third finish at the Queen’s Cup in Koh Samui. Straight after tied-fourth finish at the Singha Corporation Thailand Open, the Thai capped another remarkable run at home with rounds of 69 72, 67 and 66 to share third place with Bangladeshi Siddikur Rahman.

We caught up with the 19-year-old to find out what he had to say about another superb week at home.

“I made some up and downs today. I started out very good, then struggled a bit with my putter but I had a great comeback with two eagles in my closing three holes.

I had a bad lie off the tee on 16th actually. I was just trying to hit it on the greens to save par. I didn’t expect the ball to go in after hitting my second shot. I thought it was pretty close and didn’t know the ball went in until I heard the crowd cheering.

I was happy to birdie 14th because I have been trying to make birdies before that. I regained my momentum from there and went on to cap a good finish.

On the last hole, I didn’t hit it onto the green and given my short game, I thought I can just chipped it in. I didn’t expect it to go in but I was hoping for it to go in!

It’s always good to come and play here because this is where I got my first top-five result on the Asian Tour (2013 Queen’s Cup). I always feel good and confident coming here.

This top-five finish will definitely boost my ranking on the Asian Tour for sure. My target is to finish inside top-10 on the final Order of Merit at the end of the season. I will keep working towards that goal.”
