Richest Asian Tour and European Tour event in the Kingdom to be staged for three years at Black Mountain
Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin will play host to the inaugural Thailand Classic from February 12-15 next year, where it will become the first event co-sanctioned between The Asian Tour and European Tour to be permanently based in Thailand.
Four million baht (USD124,000) was raised to assist the education of underprivileged Thai schoolchildren at the third annual Bangkok Post–Black Mountain Charity Golf and Gourmet Dinner held at Thailand’s top golf course in January.
Hua Hin, 200 kilometres south of Bangkok, received the award this week at the International Association of Golf Tourism Operators’ annual convention, held in Catalonia, Spain.
It is only the second time a region, rather than a country, has been named Golf Destination of the Year in Asia/Australasia. Thailand has twice won the award and in 2012 the Thai city of Pattaya was the winner. Read more
Hua Hin, Thailand, Nov 12 – As it nears the end of just its seventh year since opening in April 2007, Black Mountain Golf Club near Hua Hin has confirmed its status as Thailand’s best course and one of the great championship layouts in Asia. In the past two weeks Black Mountain has collected a string of more awards, capping off the sixth straight year it has been acknowledged by golf experts in Asia and internationally. Last week at the Asia Pacific Golf Summit in Jakarta, Black Mountain was named best golf course in Thailand for the third year in succession, as well as being first runner-up as best course in Asia Pacific and first runner-up for the best pro shop in the region. The winner of multiple awards in the six years since it opened, Black Mountain is not just the best golf course in Thailand, but now also a fully integrated golf resort of unsurpassed quality, style and appeal.
Three million baht was raised for local charities at the second annual Bangkok Post- Black Mountain Charity Golf and Gourmet Dinner held at Thailand’s top golf course in January.
The event followed last year’s highly successful inaugural occasion, when money was raised to help schools affected by the floods in late 2011.
Held on Children’s Day, January 12, the event featured golf and a gourmet component in which 15 executive chefs from five-star hotels, Thai Airways and Black Mountain itself, prepared keynote dishes for 200 guests and participants.
