Karlberg stays in the hunt

Black Mountain player Rikard Karlberg fired a three-under-par 67 to battle his way into contention at the Omega European Masters on Saturday.

The Swedish star posted four birdies against one bogey for an eight-under-par 132 total to trail the leader Danny Willet of England by five shots heading into the weekend.

Currently ranked tied fifth, this is what Karlberg had to say after his round.

“Yes. I’m pleased. I played solid yesterday but I was a little shaky in the beginning today. Managed to get two birdies on 14 and 15 and I started to cool down a bit. Unfortunately, I bogeyed at the end. But it was nice out there. I felt like it was a walk in the park.

There was not much until we reached the back-nine where the breeze came up. The winds made the difference as it was really nice for us yesterday. Yes, I’m feeling confident and hopefully I can build on that confidence for the rest of the week here.”

Jazz Janewattananond has yet to finish his round after round two was suspended. He is on two-over through 12 holes while Pelle Edberg slipped back following a 72 to lie in tied 39^th position.
