Powerful Henson seeks more Philippine glory

Manila, March 12: Berry Henson of the United States believes that big drives and a hot putter will be the key to success at the US$300,000 Solaire Open which starts on Thursday. Henson won his first Asian Tour title at the 2011 Philippine Open and he is determined to return to the winner’s circle this week. “This is my first time playing at The Country Club. It is a great golf course. The designer is an American so there are a lot of American aspects on this golf course,” said Henson, who is sponsored by Black Mountain. “The course is very long and it is a bombers paradise so it fits my game. It will be very windy and the greens are tricky. Whoever bombs it the furthest and holes the most putts will win this week. I feel that I have a chance,” he added. Swedish star Rikard Karlberg and Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, both Black Mountain players, will also feature in the elite field.
