Thongchai suffers early exit at WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship

Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, who is sponsored by Black Mountain, suffered an early exit from the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship after he was defeated 3 and 2 by Webb Simpson of the United States.

The three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner was in control early in the match after he won the second and fourth holes with birdies. However, Simpson staged a comeback by squaring the match with pars at the fifth and seventh holes.

The American then made an 11-footer at the ninth hole to go 1 up. Thongchai bogeyed the 10th hole while Simpson parred his to lead by two  before going 3 up with another birdie on the 13th He then made pars on from 14th to 16th for the win.

Thongchai’s next Match Play appearance will be at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM where he will captain the 10-man Team Asia line-up set to face Team Europe in Malaysia next month.
